His research interests include Rabindranath Tagore studies, Katha Sahitya (Bengali narrative literature), tribal and subaltern literature, Mahasweta Devi studies, gender and identity in Bengali poetry, and the folk culture and linguistics of Jharkhand. He has also undertaken administrative, examination, research guidance and co-curricular responsibilities at Ranchi University and has published research papers and book chapters in national and international academic publications.
