During 2024, he performed 1,038 surgeries, including 407 major, 60 special, and 571 minor procedures, the highest volume by any single surgeon in the zonal railways, and completed 17 surgeries in a single day. He has contributed to reducing patient referrals to higher centres, helping save railway revenue and ensure timely treatment within the railway healthcare system. He maintained uninterrupted surgical services during the COVID-19 pandemic and is noted for his compassionate approach toward patients from disadvantaged backgrounds.

World Record Achievement

In 2024, Dr Sanjay Kumar, along with Dr. Shabi Ahmad, achieved an internationally recognized world record for the largest ovarian endometrioma (colloquially known as a "chocolate cyst") removed by surgery. The surgical team removed a giant ovarian endometrioma measuring 28.3 cm × 24.4 cm × 12 cm, containing approximately 5 litres of fluid, from an adolescent female patient. The record was officially recognized by the International Book of Records (World Records of Excellence) on 31 January 2024 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India.
