Davinder Dhar is an Indian writer, poet, freelance journalist, and editor. He was born in Solan, Himachal Pradesh, in 1956 and has been writing poetry for more than 40 years. His poetry collections have been translated into English, Punjabi, Marathi, and Tamil.

Early Life

Davinder Dhar was born in Solan, Himachal Pradesh, in 1956. His father was a teacher in the Himachal Pradesh Education Department, and Davinder Dhar received his early education in schools across the districts of Chamba, Bilaspur, and Kangra.

Education

Davinder Dhar completed his postgraduate studies in Hindi Literature at Himachal Pradesh University in 1984.

Career

After completing his postgraduate studies, Davinder Dhar began his career as an officer in a public sector bank. He retired as a Senior Manager after 33 years of banking experience.

Alongside his banking career, he has been writing poetry for more than 40 years. His literary work includes poetry collections, biography writing, journalism and editorial activities.

Davinder Dhar is the editor of Himachal Janta, a weekly Hindi newspaper, and Sahityik Paridrishya, a quarterly Hindi literary magazine.

He also edits and manages the literary portal Sacchi Mutbhed on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter, with activities carried out from Australia and India.

Davinder Dhar currently holds the position of General Secretary of the Himachal Unit of the All India Progressive Writers Association.

Poetry and Literary Works

Davinder Dhar's debut poetry collection, Zameen Talashte Shabd, was published in 1991 and received an award from the Himachal Pradesh Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages.

His second poetry collection, Subakte Pannon Par Bahas, received attention and critical acclaim and was translated into Punjabi.

His third poetry collection, Lutate Janmat Ki Awaaz, was praised and translated into Marathi, English, and Tamil.

Davinder Dhar also wrote a biographical work on the eminent leftist leader Comrade Kameshwar Pandit titled Yug Drishta Va Markshwadi Chintak Kameshwar Pandit, which was highly appreciated.
