Souvik Biswas is an Indian entrepreneur, restaurateur, and former corporate professional. He is best known as the founder of Nine Bees & Company, a culinary brand located in Lodha Palava City, Maharashtra. The brand is widely recognized for its affordable gourmet offerings, community-centric initiatives, and innovative dining experiences.

Early Life and Education

Souvik Biswas was born on 1 June in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. He completed his schooling, undergraduate, and postgraduate education in Kolkata. He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in Human Resources.

Career

Corporate Career (2012–2022)

Before venturing into hospitality, Biswas worked in the corporate sector for a decade. He held leadership roles in administration and human resources across multiple reputed organizations. His professional journey developed his expertise in strategic planning, people management, and operational efficiency.

Entrepreneurial Journey: Nine Bees & Co. (2022–present)

In 2022, inspired by his passion for travel and culinary exploration, Souvik founded Nine Bees & Co. in Lodha Palava City. The brand's name symbolizes teamwork and unity—values reflected in his leadership style.

Nine Bees & Co. Clarifies Sole Proprietorship Amidst Business Dispute

Dombivli, March 29, 2025: Nine Bees & Co., a reputed multi-cuisine restaurant brand, has officially affirmed its sole proprietorship under Mr. Souvik Biswas, the founder and lawful owner. Established in 2022 as Nine Bees Restaurant, the company initially operated with four members including two official directors—Mr. Souvik Biswas and Mr. Vinayak Devaji Jadhav—and two sleeping partners, Mr. Bhushan Gangurde and Mr. Prince Joseph Kalacherry, whose names were never listed on any legal, financial or banking documentation.

On January 26, 2024 the company expanded its operations by opening a second outlet in Dosti Balkum, Thane. However, due to mounting financial losses, the sleeping partners proposed the closure of the Lodha Palava outlet on May 31, 2024. The company subsequently faced further financial setbacks allegedly stemming from a series of erroneous decisions by Mr. Prince Joseph Kalacherry which severely impacted the business's financial stability. In response, the official directors, Mr. Biswas and Mr. Jadhav, lawfully exercised their fiduciary duty by restricting Mr. Prince from making further financial decisions. This intervention led to internal disagreements eventually resulting in a business split.

Following the separation, Mr. Prince, with the support of Mr. Bhushan, is alleged to have unlawfully altered official documentation and appropriated the Thane outlet under the Nine Bees name. In an attempt to mislead, Mr. Prince allegedly removed the word "Restaurant" from the original name, rebranding it as simply "Nine Bees" and simultaneously created new legal documents in his own name to carry out business operations under the disputed brand identity.

Moreover, due to Mr. Prince's misguided business decisions, he unfairly exploited Mr. Jadhav as a proxy borrower by securing all business loans under Mr. Jadhav's name. As a result, both Mr. Jadhav and Mr. Biswas have been placed under severe financial strain, as they are the ones arranging funds to repay the loans taken for Mr. Prince's unsuccessful business experimentation.

However, Nine Bees & Co. remains the sole proprietorship of Mr. Souvik Biswas. All legal certifications including the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) license, ISO certification, Shop and Establishment Certificate, Goods and Services Tax (GST) registration, Trademark registration and MSME certification are exclusively registered under Mr. Biswas’s name.

Mr. Biswas has explicitly clarified that Nine Bees & Co. holds no legal, financial or operational obligations for the Thane outlet or any other establishment operating under the Nine Bees name without his express authorization. The company reserves the unequivocal right to initiate legal proceedings, including but not limited to civil and criminal action, against any individual or entity found misusing its brand name or engaging in deceptive trade practices. The alleged unauthorized use of the brand name and falsification of business documentation could subject Mr. Prince Joseph Kalacherry to severe legal consequences, including charges of forgery, misrepresentation and commercial fraud, which may result in significant financial penalties and potential imprisonment if proven in a court of law.

In line with his commitment to preserving the brand's integrity, Mr. Biswas successfully resumed operations of Nine Bees & Co. in Lodha Palava City, Dombivli East from August 2024. With a renewed focus on delivering authentic flavors, premium quality and customer-centric services, Nine Bees & Co. is poised to strengthen its market presence free from the interference of former partners.

Mr. Biswas has appointed Mr. Vinayak Devaji Jadhav to assist in establishing Nine Bees & Co. as a leading brand. Mr. Jadhav is also overseeing the manpower business operations, contributing to the company’s growth and stability. In the future, when Nine Bees & Co. transitions into a private limited company, both Mr. Biswas and Mr. Jadhav are expected to hold official designations, further solidifying their leadership roles.
