Early Life

Dr. Ajaz Hussain Shah was born in Village Kallar Kattal, Tehsil Surankote of District Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir. He received his early education at various schools in and around his native village, completing his matriculation from Government High School Lathoong and his Higher Secondary education from Government Higher Secondary School (Boys) Surankote.

Education

Dr. Ajaz Hussain Shah completed his M.Phil and Ph.D degrees. He has also qualified NET JRF and SET examinations. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree from Government Degree College Poonch, after which he joined the Department of Urdu, University of Jammu, for higher studies, where he obtained his Master of Arts (M.A.), Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees in Urdu.

Career

He performed as an assistant professor on academic arrangement continuously in the Department of Urdu from 2015 to 2022. In 2022, he was selected as a permanent assistant professor, with his first appointment at Govt. Degree Budhal where he served for two years. Currently, he has been serving at Govt. PG College Rajouri for three years. Dr. Shah has authored ten books and published 40 research papers and articles.

He began his teaching career when he joined the Department of Urdu, University of Jammu, as an Assistant Professor on a contractual basis, remaining associated with the department until 2022 while teaching Urdu and participating in academic and research activities. In April 2022, he was appointed as a Permanent Assistant Professor in Higher Education and joined Government Degree College Budhal, serving there for approximately two years before being transferred to Government Postgraduate College Rajouri, where he has since continued serving as an Assistant Professor of Urdu. Alongside teaching, he has remained involved in literary research, academic writing, seminars, conferences, and other scholarly activities.

Literary and Research Work

Dr. Ajaz Hussain Shah has authored ten books on different aspects of Urdu language and literature, with publications covering Urdu journalism, literary criticism, translation, humour and satire, and Urdu literary studies. Among his notable works are:
