Dalbir Bharti
Dalbir Bharti is an Indian former IPS officer and presently an advocate and legal consultant based in Gurgaon/Delhi NCR. He is also known for his social work through charitable organizations.
Early Life
Dalbir Bharti was born on 14 April 1960 in the village of Banmandori, District Fatehabad, Haryana. He attended the Government Primary School in his village and passed the 5th class Board examination standing first in a cluster of villages.
Education
Dalbir Bharti completed a professional course in English Stenography, standing first in the institute. While working at the State Bank of India, he pursued his B.A. from Panjab University and M.A. in Political Science from Kurukshetra University as a private candidate. He also holds an LL.B. degree, where he was a university topper, and a Ph.D.
Career
Dalbir Bharti joined the Indian Police Service in 1987 after clearing the civil services examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission and was allotted the Maharashtra cadre. He served in various capacities including DCP, SP, DIGP, and IGP in Maharashtra and at the Centre. He took voluntary retirement as IGP in November 2011. After retirement, he worked in the corporate sector for two and a half years as Group President, Legal Consultant, and Chief of Vigilance & Security.
Currently, Dalbir Bharti is based in Delhi and Gurgaon, working as an advocate and legal consultant. He runs his own law firm, Bharti Legal Services.
Philanthropy
Dalbir Bharti is the founder president of Bharti Education and Development Society, registered in Delhi in 1993. The society operates computer centres and libraries at various locations in Haryana, providing free educational facilities to poor and needy students.
Achievements
Dalbir Bharti is the author of six published books on the Constitution, Police, Law, and Social Harmony. He was awarded the Pt. Govind Vallabh Pant Puraskar in 2011 by the Government of India for one of his books.
