Dalbir Bharti
Dalbir Bharti is an Indian former IPS officer and presently an advocate and legal consultant based in Gurgaon/Delhi NCR. He is also an author and social worker focused on education and development of poor and needy students.
Education
Dalbir Bharti holds an M.A. in Political Science, an LL.B. degree in which he was a university topper, and a Ph.D. from Mumbai University.
Career
Dalbir Bharti began his professional career working at the State Bank of India for a few years before joining the Indian Police Service in 1987 after clearing the civil services examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. He was allotted the Maharashtra cadre and served in various capacities including Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Superintendent of Police (SP), Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP), and Inspector General of Police (IGP) in Maharashtra and at the Centre. He took voluntary retirement as IGP in November 2011. After retirement, he worked in the corporate sector for two and a half years as Group President, Legal Consultant, and Chief of Vigilance & Security. Currently, Dalbir Bharti is based in Delhi/Gurgaon as an advocate and legal consultant running his own law firm, Bharti Legal Services.
Philanthropy
Dalbir Bharti is the founder president of Bharti Education and Development Society, registered in Delhi in 1993. The society operates computer centres and libraries at various locations in Haryana, providing free educational facilities to poor and needy students.
Achievements
Dalbir Bharti is the author of six published books on the Constitution, Police, Law, and Social Harmony. He was awarded the Pt. Govind Vallabh Pant Puraskar in 2011 by the Government of India for one of his books.
