Rtn Dr Murali Krishnan is an Indian industrialist and Group Chairman of NJ Group of Industries. He has built his career across construction, manufacturing, power electronics, information technology, and industrial development while actively contributing to Rotary and community service initiatives.
Education
Rtn Dr Murali Krishnan completed Mechanical Engineering from AMIE. He also earned an MBA in Marketing and a Doctorate in Social Service from QM University, London.
Career
Rtn Dr Murali Krishnan started his career in the field of construction before moving into the manufacturing of Integrated Special Purpose Machines (SPM) for various industries.
During the 1980s, he entered the field of power electronics by signing a strategic contract with LAMBDA, UK, for manufacturing power electronics and established a company in Pondicherry for manufacturing SMPS.
He was involved in leather manufacturing with exports to Italy and France and re-engineered the Dot Matrix Print Head, extending the life of printers in India and various European countries. He was recognized for Forex activities during 1985–86.
Later, he entered the field of IT manufacturing and has been associated with Intel as a partner for three decades. He has served as a member of the Advisory Board of Directors Committee for Intel and has also been an Ex-Board Director of HPC.
He is a Patron of the Indian Chamber of Commerce, Patron of AIT (Associate Information Technology), Patron of FIDAK, and is associated with the RPA & RPES Educational Trust.
Rotary and Community Service
Rtn Dr Murali Krishnan joined Rotary in 1989. After a break due to vocational commitments, he rejoined Rotary Bangalore West on 3 June 2019 as Chairman of its Satellite Club.
He became the Charter President of Rotary Bangalore Gulmohar during 2021–22 and received district recognition, including the Best Club award under the new club category.
He is credited with constructing the Rotary Silver Jubilee Hall in a record time of 45 days. He has served Rotary District 3190 in several positions, including Conference Promotion Chairman, Conference Stall In-charge, District Sergeant-at-Arms, DRCC, and Happy School initiatives.
Philanthropy
Rtn Dr Murali Krishnan has worked towards identifying, studying, renovating, and restoring old temples, monuments, and government schools in Tiptur, Karnataka. His community initiatives include donating books, school bags, tables, and chairs to rural educational institutions, constructing comfort stations, supporting girl child education, promoting afforestation drives, renovating lakes, and interacting with government officials and villagers on educational and children's health welfare initiatives.
He has also proposed establishing affordable eye hospitals and incubation centres in rural areas.
Achievements
Rtn Dr Murali Krishnan is a Paratrooper of Batch 77 and a Gold Medalist for Five Night Jumps. He represented the Republic Day Parade in 1978 and represented the country in skydiving.
Personal Life
His hobbies include the renovation of old temples, education and knowledge sharing, reading about ancient structures, long drives, and photography.
