Dr.B.A.N. Nanda is an Indian business man and travel photographer based in Visakhapatnam. He runs a shipping and logistics company and is also a visual storyteller dedicated to documenting the cultural heritage and everyday lives of indigenous communities in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha.
Career
Dr.B.A.N. Nanda has devoted his photographic work to capturing the rich traditions, rituals, and lifestyles of tribal communities such as the Bonda, Gadaba, Saora, Koya, Chenchu, Kondadora, and Lambada (Banjara) in the Eastern Ghats region. His photography emphasizes preserving the cultural landscapes of these groups with authenticity and respect. Beyond tribal documentation, he also captures landscapes, rural life, architecture, and cultural traditions across India. His work serves as a visual archive celebrating India's indigenous diversity and promotes awareness of the importance of cultural preservation through exhibitions, publications, workshops, and expeditions.
Achievements
Dr.B.A.N. Nanda holds multiple honors and memberships including Doctor of Fine Arts in Photography from GHP University, France, and affiliations with international photographic societies such as the International Federation of Photographic Art (France), United States Photographic Alliance, Singapore Colours Photographic Society, Indian Visual Arts Foundation, Bangladesh Photographic Society, and others. He is the founder, chairman, and secretary of the Visakha Art Photography Association and has served as an executive committee member of the Andhra Pradesh Photography Akademi. He is recognized for his contributions to multicultural photographic arts and holds several honorary fellowships and life memberships in photographic organizations worldwide.
