Hetartho Chatterjee

Hetartho Chatterjee is an Indian Hindustani Classical Vocalist, music producer, sound engineer, and vocal coach based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He is the Founder and CEO of Sangeetagya Classes and currently serves as Vocal Guru at the Malhaar Centre for Performing Arts, Dubai.

Early Life

Hetartho Chatterjee was born on 16 March 2001 in Faridabad, Haryana. He began his musical journey at the age of 4, receiving primary training from his grandfather, Shree Deepak Chatterjee, and later from his mother, Smt. Ruby Chatterjee, a professional vocalist trained in Classical Music and Rabindra Sangeet. He also received training in Tabla from his father, Sh. Suman Chatterjee, a professional Tabla player and disciple of Pt. Anindo Chatterjee.

Gurus and Training

Hetartho Chatterjee was introduced to Hindustani classical music under the tutelage of Padmashree Pt. Tejpal Singh (Singh Bandhu Brothers), belonging to the Indore Gharana (disciples of Ustad Amir Khan). He subsequently pursued the form more seriously under the guidance of Padmashree Vidushi Sumitra Guha of the Kirana Gharana.

He was also trained under the guidance of Dr. Anju Munjal and Sh. Manish Tirkha in Classical and Semi-Classical Music.

Education

Hetartho Chatterjee completed his B.A. (Hons) in English at Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi (2018–2020), followed by a Master of Arts in Music Teacher Education from Delhi University and a Master of Fine Arts in Music from Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya (IKSV), Khairagarh. He also holds a Diploma in Music Production and Sound Engineering, a Visharad in Music, and a Prabhakar in Tabla, both from Prayag Sangeet Samiti.

He holds a certification as an Art, Drama, and Music Teacher, Postsecondary, from Prayag Sangeet Samiti (issued May 2018), and is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM) from Delhi University (issued March 2021).

Career

Music Instruction and Production

Hetartho Chatterjee has worked as a Sound Engineer, Background Music Designer, and Music Producer at KuKu FM, Pocket FM, and Pratilipi FM. He has taught vocal music at Kafqa Academy, Top Beat Academy, and Spardha School of Music, and currently serves as Vocal Guru at the Malhaar Centre for Performing Arts, Dubai, a role he has held since July 2022.

He has also worked as a Music Producer at Sparvvy, Bhardwaj Studios, and Sangeetagya School of Music, and as a Research and Development Analyst at Topbeat, working on the research and development of music courses. He served as a part-time Hindustani Classical Vocal Teacher at Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Haryana (November 2017–January 2022).

Sangeetagya Classes

In March 2021, Hetartho Chatterjee founded Sangeetagya Classes, where he serves as Founder and CEO of the music school.

Event Management

Hetartho Chatterjee has organised and managed major events, including The Meera Project 2020 (India Habitat Centre, Delhi), Yuva Mahotsav 2018 (Faridabad), and Sangeetagya Baithaks featuring artists such as Pt. Birju Maharaj, Pt. Anindo Chatterjee, Anubrata Chatterjee, Pt. Bhajan Sapori, Vidushi Kalapini Komkali, and Vidushi Shovna Narayan.

Hetartho Chatterjee served as Event Manager for Sanskar Bharti, Sarnath Ekai, Varanasi, in November 2019, and as a vocalist and member of the Music Society (Musoc) at Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi, from 2018 to 2020.
