Dr G Ramesh Kumar is an Indian CXO and Global MSME & BFSI Strategist based in Mumbai. He has over 25 years of leadership experience in MSME enablement, financial inclusion, gold loans, capital markets, and financial services. He is known for his work in building MSME ecosystems and advising on policy and transformation initiatives.

Early Life

Dr G Ramesh Kumar was born in Mumbai to Shri P. N. Ganeshan, who worked at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, and Smt. Vasantha Ganeshan, a homemaker. He was raised in modest circumstances, and his early years shaped his approach to resilience, observation, and empathy that later informed his work with small businesses and entrepreneurs. He traces his family roots to Kollam, Kerala.

Education

Dr G Ramesh Kumar completed the Strategic Management Programme at IIM Ahmedabad. He holds an MBA in Marketing and Finance from SIES College of Management Studies, Mumbai, and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Mumbai.

Career

Dr G Ramesh Kumar has over 25 years of leadership experience across BFSI, MSME enablement, gold loans, capital markets, and financial inclusion. He has delivered more than 10,000 keynote sessions impacting over 100,000 MSMEs and startups. He has held senior leadership roles including Chairman of Entrepreneurs Connect Bharat, Director General of MSME Bharat Manch, Chief Business Officer at Pcred Venture Private Limited, and Executive Director at Insurath.

His previous roles include Vice President and Business Head at RupeeBoss Financial Services Pvt. Ltd., Chief Business Officer at Mangal Credit & Fincorp Ltd., and Vice President at Muthoot Fincorp Ltd. He began his career with Indiabulls Group and has held various leadership positions in capital markets and retail lending.

Dr G Ramesh Kumar is recognized for his expertise in MSME financing, government schemes, policy advisory, and ecosystem partnerships involving banks, NBFCs, government bodies, and industry organizations.

He joined the then-emerging Indiabulls Group in 2000 as an Assistant Manager, working closely with promoters Mr. Sameer Gehlaut, Mr. Rajeev Rattan, and Mr. Gagan Banga, and rose to Senior Vice President by 2009 across Indiabulls, MF Global Sify (now Phillip Capital), and Unicon Securities. At MF Global Sify Securities he served as National Head – Private Client Group, leading business development for HNI, Ultra-HNI, and corporate clients alongside Mr. Rahul Shah, Mr. Vineet Bhatnagar, and Mr. Vijay Bhambwani.

At Muthoot Fincorp Ltd., as Vice President – Zonal/State Head for North & West India, he led a gold loan business turnaround achieving 21% year-on-year growth, managing an AUM of approximately ₹1,400 crore across 11 states, 500+ branches, and 3,500+ employees, reporting directly to Mr. Thomas John Muthoot.

As Director General & National Head – Partnerships at MSME Bharat Manch (an initiative of RupeeBoss Financial Services), he worked closely with CEO Mr. P. N. Shetty and Chairman Mr. N. B. Shetty on strategic alliances and ecosystem development for the MSME sector across India.

In 2019, he founded Ocean of Solutions (also known as Yurja), which he describes as a copyrighted e-commerce platform for end-to-end business solutions, from company formation to IPO readiness. He is also Founder of SSLR Consultancy LLP and Founder of The MSME Federation, a global initiative under Ocean of Solutions focused on MSME advisory, government scheme facilitation, and business networking.

Personal Life

Dr G Ramesh Kumar is married to Ms. Shyne Ramesh, a lecturer at Swami Vivekanand Jr. College, Chembur, Mumbai. They have two daughters: Ms. Sharanya Ramesh, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts at St. Xavier's College, Mumbai, and Ms. Lavanya Ramesh, studying in Class 7 at Swami Vivekanand High School, Chembur. He was born in Mumbai and has family roots in Kollam, Kerala. He speaks English, Hindi, Marathi, and Malayalam.

His father, Shri P. N. Ganeshan, worked at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre and passed away in 2023; his mother, Smt. Vasantha Ganeshan, was a homemaker. He resides in Chembur, Mumbai.
