Biidyut Kuumar Roy holds an MBA in Total Quality Management, a B.Tech in Food Technology, a Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Nutrition & Dietetics, and a Diploma in Food Processing Technology.
Career
Biidyut Kuumar Roy began his career as a Technical Officer at India Dairy Products Ltd. (producer and packer of Amul) from January to September 2008. He then served as Executive Quality Control at Naturex, part of Givaudan (formerly Valentine Agro Ltd.), from October 2008 to 2010, followed by a role as Food & Flavor Technologist at J.V. Gokal & Co Pvt. Ltd. from 2011 to 2014.
From 2015 to June 2019, he served as Manager – Product Research, Development & Quality Control at M.K. Jokai Agri Plantations Pvt. Ltd. He then returned to J.V. Gokal & Co Pvt. Ltd. as Senior Manager – Flavoured Tea from July 2019 to February 2022.
He has developed more than 1,000 tea blends for overseas buyers, particularly in Australia, France, the USA, the UK, Europe, Russia, Kazakhstan, and the Middle East, and has worked on value-added tea products including flavoured tea, herbal tea, Ayurveda tea, tea premix, and iced-tea premix. His work has spanned tea tasting and blending across black, green, specialty, herbal, floral infusion, fruit infusion, and flavoured tea and tea/coffee premix categories; export and specialty tea packaging; vendor development with overseas herb and flavour suppliers; new product development from concept through launch; sourcing of herbs and flavours from countries including Germany, South Africa, Poland, the USA, and Australia; quality control and food safety systems including HACCP, ISO 22000, BRC, GMP, SA8000, Kosher, Fairtrade, and Organic certification; and plant, warehouse, and laboratory setup and upgradation.
He founded BKR Global Consulting, through which he provides end-to-end consultancy for tea, coffee, and food businesses, including entrepreneurs, startups, MSMEs, manufacturers, exporters, and established food companies. He has conducted product trials and secured approvals at companies including HLL, Heinz, Cadbury, Frito-Lay's, Kellogg's, GSK, and Britannia, and has attended an international visit from Dyna Foods, France. He has also carried out third-party blending operations for Orchard Brand Food Pvt. Ltd. for Vista Processed Food.
International Exposure
Biidyut Kuumar Roy has worked on new business development in China, focused on green tea, oolong tea, and tea packaging development, and on new product research and development in Russia, focused on flavoured teas, herbal teas, tea premix, coffee, and dry fruits.
